Privacy Policy
Effective date: March 7, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how FactSim collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you access or use FactSim's websites, applications, APIs, simulations, research tools, and related support services (collectively, the "Service").
The Service is designed to help users organize information, model scenarios, and generate AI-assisted outputs. Because those features depend on data that users provide directly and data created through use of the Service, it is important that you understand how information is handled before using FactSim.
1. Scope and Role
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information that FactSim processes in connection with the Service, including when you create an account, submit onboarding information, run simulations, import content, contact support, or otherwise interact with us.
For most processing described in this Policy, FactSim acts as the controller or business that determines the purposes and means of processing. Service providers that help us operate the Service may process information on our behalf as processors or service providers under applicable law.
2. Information You Provide to Us
We collect information that you choose to submit to FactSim so the Service can function as requested. The categories of information you may provide include the following:
- Account information, such as your email address, authentication details, and account preferences.
- Profile and onboarding information, such as your name, age or life stage, location, occupation, goals, background details, relationship information, health inputs, financial planning inputs, and weekly schedule details.
- Simulation and planning content, such as prompts, assumptions, scenarios, events, notes, reflections, branches, generated outputs, reports, and saved drafts.
- Documents and media, such as resume text, uploaded files, voice inputs, and transcriptions you request through supported workflows.
- Communications, such as messages you send to support, product feedback, survey responses, and other correspondence.
3. Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Service, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical and usage information so we can operate, secure, and improve the product.
This information may include device and browser details, approximate location derived from IP address, timestamps, page and feature interactions, log data, error diagnostics, and product telemetry.
- Client-side application state stored in your browser, including local storage used to preserve setup, scenario, or draft information between sessions.
- Operational logs used for debugging, fraud prevention, abuse detection, performance monitoring, and incident response.
- Analytics and privacy-masked session replay data used to understand product usage, investigate failures, and improve user experience.
4. Information from Third Parties and Integrations
If you choose to connect third-party tools or use import workflows, FactSim may receive information from those sources at your direction. We may also receive information from vendors that support authentication, hosting, analytics, transcription, research, billing, or other infrastructure services.
Examples may include profile data imported through authorized ingestion flows, transcription results returned from speech-processing providers, web research data returned by search providers, and account or payment confirmations from processors if paid features are offered.
5. How We Use Information
FactSim uses personal information for business and commercial purposes that are consistent with the operation of the Service and our relationship with users.
- Provide, maintain, and personalize the Service.
- Authenticate users, manage accounts, and synchronize account-scoped data.
- Generate simulations, summaries, scenario analyses, forecasts, and related AI-assisted outputs that you request.
- Support users, respond to inquiries, and communicate about the Service.
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot errors, audit quality, and improve reliability, safety, and usability.
- Detect, investigate, and prevent misuse, spam, unauthorized access, security incidents, and other harmful activity.
- Develop, test, and improve the Service, including prompts, workflows, safety systems, and product features.
- Comply with legal obligations, enforce our agreements, and protect the rights, safety, and property of FactSim, our users, and others.
6. Legal Bases and Regional Disclosures
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, FactSim generally relies on one or more of the following bases: performance of a contract with you, legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service, compliance with legal obligations, and your consent where required.
Depending on where you live, you may have privacy rights under laws such as the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, or other state privacy laws. FactSim does not sell personal information, and we do not knowingly disclose personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
7. AI and Automated Processing
FactSim uses automated systems and third-party model providers to process prompts, profile information, documents, and other inputs in order to generate simulations, planning materials, summaries, and related outputs. Those systems are probabilistic and may produce content that is incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate.
We may review prompts, outputs, and related metadata for quality assurance, abuse prevention, troubleshooting, security, and model-performance evaluation. Users are responsible for reviewing outputs and deciding whether they are appropriate for any particular purpose.
8. How We Disclose Information
FactSim may disclose personal information in the following circumstances:
- To service providers and infrastructure partners that help us operate the Service, such as hosting, authentication, analytics, AI model, transcription, search, or payment vendors.
- To third-party services and integrations when you instruct us to connect, transmit, or import data.
- To comply with law, regulation, legal process, court order, or lawful government request.
- To detect, investigate, or respond to fraud, abuse, security issues, or violations of our Terms of Service.
- In connection with an actual or proposed merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, asset sale, or similar corporate transaction.
- With your consent or at your direction.
- In aggregated or de-identified form that does not reasonably identify you.
10. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain business records, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations.
Retention periods vary depending on the nature of the information, the sensitivity of the data, the purposes for which it was collected, and whether continued retention is required or permitted by law. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we will delete, anonymize, or de-identify it, subject to technical and legal constraints.
11. Data Security
FactSim uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, and disclosure. These safeguards may include access controls, monitoring, vendor management, and other security practices appropriate to the nature of the Service.
No method of transmission over the internet and no method of electronic storage is completely secure. As a result, FactSim cannot guarantee absolute security, and you use the Service with that understanding.
12. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access to personal information, request correction, request deletion, request a copy or export, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, or appeal a denial of a rights request.
You may also be able to manage certain information directly through your account, browser, or device settings. To submit a privacy request, contact us at the email address below. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.
13. International Data Transfers
FactSim may process and store information in the United States and other jurisdictions where FactSim or its service providers operate. Those jurisdictions may have privacy laws that differ from the laws of your home country or state.
Where required by law, we will take appropriate steps to protect transferred information, such as using contractual safeguards or other legally recognized transfer mechanisms.
14. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and FactSim does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to FactSim, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
FactSim may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Service, our practices, legal requirements, or other operational needs. When we do, we will post the revised version with an updated effective date and may provide additional notice if required by law.
16. Contact Information
